Puzzle Dharma work writing for children 12 to 18 years by author Kim Yew
Author's words:
Dear Venerable Ones,
Dear Buddhists!
..........................................
We compiled this book mainly for children from 12 to 18 years old (in the age group of students from grade 6 to grade 12), so we advocate following the criteria of brevity, removing Sino-Vietnamese terms, or any sentences or words that can be converted to pure Vietnamese words and modern words, we will radically change them. Through the teaching process, we realize that children's brains can only receive a limited amount of information. We should not develop lessons that are too lengthy or they can easily get confused. You should only teach the most basic things, later on, higher-level students will know how to dig deeper into the problem themselves.
The table of contents of the lessons is arranged in order so that through each lesson, students can immediately apply Buddha's teachings to practical life, creating happiness in the present. For example, if you unfortunately do not have the conditions to complete the program, then just the lessons in Volume I will have enough basic issues for you to apply and reap happiness. As for the articles that involve more in-depth research, they are arranged gradually closer to the end of the program.
We chose the name for the book set: BUDDHA QUESTIONS because all the lessons are designed in the form of short questions and answers for each question, so it will be clear and easy to understand for students, and when testing, teachers can immediately use the questions in the lesson, without having to prepare them. The two words DO FUN also create a more comfortable mentality for learners, because the curriculum in high schools is too heavy, if we mention the word "learning" again, the students will be hesitant. Accompanied by a number of folk songs that we have incorporated into the doctrinal content, so that children can absorb Buddhism through a fun, quick-to-learn musical path. At the same time, it is also a way to contribute to preserving traditional arts among young people in the face of a strong invasion of foreign culture, which threatens to lose Vietnam's national identity.
To make the book pages light, fun, and exciting for children, we have used a number of collected illustrations scattered in many places. Because we do not have the opportunity to find out who the author is, we can only send our apologies and thanks to the authors, please allow us to use it for the purpose of publishing and serving, not for profit.
And not only with young people, but through the testing process, we have also found that even beginner Buddhists can easily absorb this book. So it can be applied to schools that are just starting to study Buddhism. Just need the lecturer or teacher to prepare a lesson plan that changes a bit for each specific subject. By the way, we also have some suggested lesson plans printed at the end of the book. We hope to contribute more materials for your reference.
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
Young people are the future of society, the future of Buddhism. Children not only need adequate nutritional care, but also intellectual, spiritual, and moral care to have a resistance to bad things and evil. Buddhism is actively contributing to that educational work. We hope that many children's Buddhist classes will be opened throughout the provinces and cities, so that millions and millions of young Vietnamese citizens will soon have access to good Buddhist education, becoming useful people for the country and humanity. And hopefully this little booklet will add a little joy to you as well as to the children during their time studying Buddhism. Yes, learning is fun, learning is fun, then the joy of the Dharma is born. As for the inevitable shortcomings of the booklet, we would like to listen to your suggestions and instructions with deep gratitude.
